"Baby if you have got it....you have to Flaunt it now..."
And cellphones are no exceptions for being regarded as things to ostend with a lot of pride and conceit. Yes, you read it right - conceit I said.
Face it folks - mobilephones are no more devices to be flashing around with so much vanity. Luxuries have become necessities and please come to terms with it. I dont deny the fact that cellphones have become part of the criteria for a perfunctory judgement of personality (I hate to say this though), but dont take it to scuzzy levels of pomposity.
All this to say - switch off your mobiles when in a meeting, performance, temples or any places that supplicates your gadgets' silence, or atleast put it on a silent mode. For heavenssake. God will increase/decrease (depends on good girlfriend/bad girlfriend in that order) your lifetime by 1/60th of a second. Everybody is matured enough to understand it, but I wonder what stops them from Implementing it. I hope the world changes for a better tommorrow at meetings et alia.
I had a meeting to attend today (the cause for the above-seen importunes). An "all hands" meeting. Wonder why they never asked for an "all heads" meeting. Should have been more befitting the occasion.
The session started off very well - with a fabulous breakfast. Steamy soft idlies with a host of chutneys and sambhar. And for those who would pick something lighter for morning chow, there was grilled sandwich, with thick tomato sauce. Fruit salads and juices for rounding it off. I didnt wake up early for nothing.
Our EVP is an interesting man. Witty, I should add. And very smart. I have taken a liking to his elocution. And simplicity.
Employee: "Customers seem unhappy with our pricing policies. Your comments?"
EVP : "Oh by the way, they would like it for free, wont they?"
Employee: "Do we get complete ownership of a product, code by code?"
EVP : "Unless there is a major unescapable earthquake at California" /* got the point , dude? */
And talking of California, reminds me of the elections again. And of Bush. My friend sent me this link : An interesting game
The man has been subjected to a lot of lampoon lately. Contrarily, makes me admire him for his never-say-quit attitude. And I read yesterday - "If Europeans could vote at the USA, Kerry would win by a landslide". Hail Bush's guts. He is still running for the President.
As I sit here and type, gobs of friends would be at home, probably taking a sunbath. A declared holiday it is at Karnataka, and for some fortunate employees here at Andhra Pradesh. This is the day, harking back by numerous years though, which saw the two states taking legal formation, yet another pair of closed shapes in the Indian Map.
I have a knack for digression. I just read this statement by a debutant barnstormer at Bollywood (given the amount of trips these people take around the world, barnstormer is an understatement) - "At Indonesia, Shah Rukh Khan is God". What next? "Soekarnoputri is a malodorous moppet"?
Whats gotten into these people? They have a severe privation of vitamin "give-them-the-due-respect"!
I have heard of corporate servility. Thankfully havent seen any. And I hope I will not. But talk of adulation for and the idolization of cinestars, interesting very few times, noisome otherwise! Who would give a damn to make up such blatant fibs that these mags and dailies are so adept at! They do though.
Lying - Ah I hate it./* simper */
My mom says "Fib, and the devil shall cut off important parts of your body, a fragment for each lie".
And then with a cherubic smile adorning her countenance, adds, "But keep up with the lies son.....I have always wanted a daughter".
