Was going through some malaprops.

Reminds me of once when my mom wanted to bunk school (oh genius. She doesnt study. She is a teacher). News came that morning that a close relative has expired. Maternal. So mom was too depressed to talk or go to work. Mom had decided she and dad would immediately start for Chennai. I was to be left behind since I had some exams. Since mom was too depressed to talk, dad called her school to inform about her inability to handle classes. He called the head mistress(funny lady in all senses). He said "Hello ma'am? This is Mala's husband. We have received a very sad and shocking news this morning of our relative's death. We are leaving for Chennai now and my wife would not be able to come to the school till next Monday. I called to inform you." Then he listened intently to something she said. And hung up saying "Dont be" and stared into the phone. Then managed a small smile. Mom asked "What did she say?". Dad: "Hearty Condolences. I'm sorry". Mom managed a smile too.

And I, have a hearty laugh everytime I think about it.
