Unique Marketing - For Car Wash

Getting to wash cars at an apartment is no big deal. Everyone needs it here since the owners cant do it everyday (I'm one of those lazy ones!).

So it becomes competitive. And what can one do unique to grab customers?

On Saturday, this guy knocked at my door and wanted to talk to me about car wash. And I said I'll do it myself. But he asked me to come see my car downstairs. I went with him to find it sparkling clean! And he said to me "this is what I'll do everyday sir!".

And all I could do after that was to ask him if can clean the interiors too!

It looks like the first rain...

after we've moved into the new place...

its been a journey setting things up, and its all done save a few minor things. Which Mrs is driving to get done by this weekend.

Getting the internet working was quite an effort.

The loveliest part of the house? To me, the kitchen. I love open kitchens and this is just perfect.

So as I wait for the first rain (the first lightening just flashed), lets hope Mrs likes the dinner I made tonight - corn fried rice.

Another 2 days

to perform the Pooja for the entry into the new house. And then probably a week more to make a home.

Hectic time ahead and my people management faculties should be at their peak!

The Fun of Furnishing

Okie, I can write a separate series on "Furnishing my new house"...its been a journey...

Was supposed to get it completed by Diwali 2008. Diwali gone, Xmas gone, New Year gone, Pongal 2009 gone...and its yet to be completed...for various genuine and not so valid reasons...

Finally, the last 2 or 3 days of woodwork have arrived...And after that the final coats of polish...Will post the pics later.

House to Home

Not bad that this post is just 3 weeks later, unlike my previous one which was 5 months later...am getting more prolific!

The buying part of a new house is done. Now caught up in the "house to home" bit. It takes a lot of management skills - people management, time management, assertiveness etc. A good foundation for a good manager?

Hopefully we'll move in by end of February.

Wirelessly Connected to...my wife!

Now, I have a bigg excuse for not blogging more often: Blogs are prohibited at office. This is a UK based company, and worse than the Chinese when it comes to web access control :(

And at home, its too cumbersome to sit at a desk so similar to office and type away when the favs are running on TV.

And today I've done what I have been avoiding for a long long time. I've got the home wi-fi enabled.

Staples is a store I love to hang out in. The kid in me jumps in glee at all the gizmos. I've been there wandering aimlessly four times since last Monday, and the fourth time is when I've made a purchase..actually two..actually some freebies too..and oh, a few coupons too!

I bought:
1. NETGEAR WGR614 108 Mbps 802.11G (sounds cool with so many numbers isnt it ;) )
2. Wireless Staples Mouse (cute little thing)

I won:
1. A jumpclip box
2. Handy Highlighters
3. 4 permanent markers

Anyway, now that we've got the house all wi-fi and stuff (a super-simple setup process), my wife and I are sitting beside each other on the couch, she with our laptop, me with my office laptop, typing away into different websites, not even looking at each other!!! And I'm thinking of pinging her on Google Chat to grab her attention, what say?

Reminds me of the golden days of sitting beside each other and talking to far away beings over mobile phones. We've become more techno, but the relative distance of 2 feet has grown worlds apart!
