I have had so much cheese and egg in the past two days that I am sure I have added around an inch around my waist this week alone.
So when I went into the canteen today to get something, couldnt bear the sight of sandwiches. Picked up a fruit pack and as I was going to the counter, noticed 'lentil soup'. Wanted just to try it and got a bowl of that too.
When I reached my desk, found that lentil soup is nothing but diluted version of the daal we make in India. I had actually expected it to be anyway. Not bad actually, a mild tasting pretty creamy soup they've made out of it. Gentle yet appetizing.
On a crazy note, Wiki-ed for lentils (recently developed the habit of wikiying for everything).
Check out the interesting facts that I noted: "The optical lens is so named after the lentil (Latin: lens), whose shape it resembles."
Thats a cool one.
"Apart from a high level of proteins, lentils also contain dietary fiber, vitamin B1, and minerals. Red (or pink) lentils contain a lower concentration of fiber than green lentils (11% rather than 31%)." - and my wife calls me health freak to be checking this while drinking the soup.

Fear Not! Mr Cook is here.
Well, day before yesterday, I was too bored to have dinner and told my roomies to carry on and not bother about me.
But they suddenly got depressed and had long faces. Ah I thought! What a lovely bunch of people! They care so much for me.
I told them, its ok! And they said "Its not ok! We thought you would cook. And yaar, you know we cant do anything. Kuch karna yaar"
I couldnt help laughing! And made them dinner which turned out to be fantastic. And boy you should have seen them gobble it all up. Felt good.
So yesterday, chucked running and made an elaborate dinner since one of the roomies is leaving today to India. And that was a sellout too.
Hmm..Someone's becoming an expert ;)

UK Update: My First Cooking Disaster
I dont have any pictures of it, so dont look for it. I was too depressed to take pics.
The peas pulao that I wanted to make ended up brown and roasted inside the cooker. I will divulge nothing else.
But the thing is, in my 4 years of experimentation with cooking, this is my first disaster. And on top of it, I burned my hand and it is still irritating.
I am pretty good at damage control and disaster recovery though, and proof is that we had a much tastier dinner of dal rice and potato + mushroom fry curry.
And Friends cheered me up anyway.
I have moved into an apartment in Cheshunt, and its a four bedroom one. I dont fancy staying there, but the inmates are pretty cool. So havent got much trouble. Let me see over the weekend, when we'll be forced to spend more time with each other.
Am looking forward to wife's trip here, coz thats when I've decided to go out to places too. You see, cost cutting measures.
Today is quite a day. Have very rarely had a day like this where I wasnt able to get out of my location. Shall we call it a hectic day? Yes, I suppose.
