I've been cleaning out my Gmail Chat contacts...
And been removing from the list, all the people whom I have either lost contact with or just that I havent really chatted with them...
I just hid a person from that list, with whom I havent chatted even a single time in the entire existence of my gmail ID...
And the very next day, that person comes online and says "Hi there anand, you remember me?"!!!! And as I type this post, I am answering that very person...
If that isnt spooky, then very few are!

Why White Why Not Black
This post has nothing to do with racism et al.
Sometime back, I read an article which said something like this, approximately:
The person who wrote the article suggested that Google pages should be black in background, since black pages take less power (electricity), to be displayed. And there was a comparison of the watts that could be saved etc.
I appreciate the suggestion in all earnestness.
But talking about pages with dark backgrounds etc, an avid blog-reader like me, (it still will take a long time to call myself an avid blogger), will find it particularly repulsive when pages have dark/colourful backgrounds and effects. I am myself planning an overhaul of my blog, but that has to wait till I get to my laptop in India, where I have the necessary equipments (read softwares) to play around. Carrying an office laptop restricts the extent to which we can play around.
Coming back to the topic, if what I see is true, the people who use/read blogs are mostly professionals, who use the net at office more than at home.
And when I open a blog, or for that matter, any page whose content is perfectly acceptable at an office environment, but has glaring backgrounds and colours, it makes it more difficult to live the fact that I am reading non-work related stuff at office, and I become more conscious of the people around me, and I tend to close the page though I would have loved to continue reading.
Especially today, when I have absolutely no work until someone decides to share his/her workload with me, I wanted to catch up with a lot of blogs that I havent had the time to read. But I see that these pages have been altered, and have really glaring and sometimes distasteful backgrounds. And immediately it becomes difficult for me to continue reading.
And for a person sitting at the UK, in an office where I see everyone so busy with work (I think so), I feel a bit guilty of my free time.
Having white/light backgrounds make the articles look more office-friendly, and people like me would really appreciate being able to read lovely articles to make the otherwise free time, well spent.
So, I extend a gentle request to all those bloggers/web-page developers out there, as long as the page doesnt need the glamour, kindly try and reduce the glaring designs.
Thank you.
