It is a usual practice for my neighbour that he reads the paper I subscribe to and I pay for, usually before I touch it, just because he wakes up before me. Let me give you an idea of the place I am staying in now.
Its a green matchbox shaped building. I stay in a room in the second floor. And there is one more room adjacent to mine, and both of our rooms open into a common portico. There are 2 chairs in the portico, that the neighbours have placed, so that they can enjoy evening talks and stuff. As the story goes, they have a bad habit of waking up before I do. And this baldy fellow (one of the inmates of the neighbouring room, lets call him Jack), always takes my paper and reads it thoroughly, occupying one of those two chairs and having a great view of the sunrise. Now how do I know that?
I have seen him reading, more than 5 times, when due to his misfortune I woke up just a little while after he did. And everytime, due to the reason that I might embarass him, I come back quietly into my room and wait for him to complete. So this has been going on for quite a few days as you all know by now ;)
Today, I woke up and went to open the door. I found him reading the paper but just as I was closing the door, he turned towards me. I noticed him noticing me. So to avoid any embarassment for him, I said "Its ok. Finish it. I'll pick it up later" with a huge smile that would have made my worst enemies my best friends. And he was saying something in return. I couldnt hear him at first, so moved closer. This is what he said "I've finished it. You can take it now. I've missed August 17th and 18th's issue. Can you please get me those?"
I was just standing there, now mouth wide open, with such stench that the best of my friends would have become the worst of my enemies. I had not brushed my teeth till then. Anyways, that is not what is important here. What is important is that I still am not able to figure out, why I came back into my room meekly, took the two issues he mentioned, and gave it to him, with that huge smile again.
I think I'll be embarassed the whole day!
Here's some news for those who are not so embarassed and are savvy enough to be provoked to try this (click on pic).
