...I got beaten by a policeman. No kidding.
Is this a taste of whats coming? Nah...My wife wouldnt hit me...well...I mean...will she?
Bangalore is boiling...And for the first time in my life, I got into the thick of action, by fate more than fantasy.
It was Friday and I had to come back from training, from Basaveshwaranagar to CV Raman Nagar (If you dont know Bangalore, check in a map). The trainer left us early since it was Friday. My turmoil started at Hudson circle. Remnants of a procession - chappals, stones, sticks, posters, smoke, burnt effigies, hmmm....it was like the sets of the movie "Bombay"...
At the Vittal Malya Road, I got caught amidst trucks and trucks of people, all shouting anti-Bush slogans...I'd rather not get into that anyways...
Someone did something and ran somewhere, and on the way passed my bike. A policeman was chasing, wielding the lathi. And hit me. By mistake ofcourse, since he missed that 'someone' who was running past me.
And what a hit it was. For the first time I got to know how a 'policekaran adi' will be. And the result, I am in a cast today. This time next week, I'd be in the thick of pre-marriage ceremonies.
What a time to get into trouble.
Was fortunate though to miss yesterday's frenzy. East Bangalore burnt, and people got looted and hurt. Sad, really sick to see such things happening in the beginning a fresh year and almost everyone would have promised to have a peaceful new year! Now you know why I dont trust resolutions.
God save us. Whoever that is, I am not going to argue.
